    Stroll pretty Rittenhouse Square, the heart of Center City’s most exclusive neighborhood. There’s much to explore among the charming colonial cobblestone streets lined with Federal and Georgian-style homes. Don’t miss Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, or Elfreth's Alley, Philadelphia's oldest residential street. If you seek even more historical context, check out the Museum of the American Revolution.

Local favorite Parc Brasserie on Rittenhouse offers a lively ambiance and French bistro classics. Choose between two of their best salads: crab and avocado or roasted carrot and beet.

Catch the sunset and enjoy a cocktail at Assembly Bar on the rooftop of the Logan Hotel. You'll get a striking view of Logan Square, extending all the way down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, dubbed the Champs-Élysées of Philly. 

Have dinner at Vedge, which showcases plant-based fare that even carnivores will love. The setting, a 19th century brownstone with fireplaces and wainscoting, is second only to the food. Dishes include innovative preparations like mushroom carpaccio with deviled kohlrabi, rutabaga fondue, wood-roasted carrots, and smoked eggplant. Fuel up for the day ahead at El Cafe. Try a Horchata latte and a blue corn tortilla stuffed with egg, cheese, salsa, and hoja santa.

    For a three-mile jaunt and skyline views, run across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge Pedestrian Walkway to New Jersey and back. Afterwards, stretch at the nearby Race Street Pier. Then, break for lunch at High Street on Market in the Historic District. Sample the sesame Caesar with a poached egg or roasted wild mushroom soup.

  • Option 2: Culture

    Head to the city’s Museum District. The Barnes Foundation is renowned for its collection of impressionist, post-impressionist, and early modern paintings, with works by Picasso, Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, and more. Have a farm-to-table lunch at the museum's Garden Restaurant. If you're still game for more culture, visit the Rodin Museum, which has the largest collection of the artist’s works outside of France, or the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the third largest museum in the U.S. and home to the iconic Rocky steps.

Close out your visit at Zahav, the 2019 winner of the James Beard Award for best U.S. restaurant. Reserve well in advance or arrive early to walk in at the bar or chef's counter. The menu celebrates modern Middle Eastern cuisine, with an emphasis on the complex flavors of Israeli food. Order silky hummus with laffa bread baked in a wood-fired taboon, an assortment of seasonal vegetables known as salatim, and entrées of grilled lamb, branzino, or cremini mushrooms.
