Celebrity playlist: Priscilla Renea

Meet the lyricist behind some of Rihanna and Demi Lovato’s hits.

You might not have heard of country soul artist Priscilla Renea yet, but you’ve most likely enjoyed her lyrics. The LA-based singer has co-written smash hits like Rihanna’s “California King Bed” and Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It,” and recently released her sophomore album “Coloured” that blends the genres of country, R&B, soul, folk, and roots. With collaborations with Pusha T and Diplo already under her belt, as well as a spot in Spotify’s debut Secret Genius series, Renea is ready to show the world the voice behind the lyrics. And while she might prefer country for her own sound, she curated a playlist for Furthermore featuring the hip-hop songs that get her in the mood for a workout. “If I’m doing something I don’t really want to do, like abs and cardio, there’s nothing like some hi-hats and a fire 808 bassline to help get you in the right vibration,” she says.
