16 tracks to keep on repeat all season
To celebrate summer, Furthermore talked to four acts on the verge of stardom about their respective backgrounds, burgeoning success, and their thoughts on what makes for the perfect song for the season. See below for a collaborative playlist that includes their favorite tracks for listening to while working up a sweat or cooling it down.
From: Umeå, Sweden
Superlatives: If there’s someone who’s seemingly cracked the code to penning earworm tracks, it’s Swedish pop songstress Tove Styrke. A former contestant on the country’s Swedish Idol, she’s currently prepping for a tour with Katy Perry. Styrke is a longtime star in her homeland who started to make waves across the globe in the past two years, largely thanks to her addictive singles ranging from the vibrant “Say My Name” to the buoyant “Sway” from her recently-released, self-titled debut album. As such, Styrke’s summer favorites consist of instant pop classics from Francis and the Lights and Niki and the Dove.
Top Bunk
From: Los Angeles
Superlatives: Since premiering their debut track “Figure it Out” in the spring, Top Bunk is quickly gaining traction thanks to their rambunctious sound, equal parts inventive and catchy. The group of eight Los Angeles-based music makers, including vocalist Petros A.P., has already found its way onto a variety of influential Spotify playlists including Indie Pop and Young and Free.
What makes the perfect summer song?: “The perfect summer song consists of: two parts liquid sunshine, one part corner-stand lemonade, and a dash of double-chorus. Serve chilled and keep it filled, baby.” –Petros A.P.
