My healthy: Tanya Wright

The Orange is the New Black star shares her stay-well secrets.

Tanya Wright is one busy woman. The actress, who currently portrays Crystal Burset, the wife of Sophia (Laverne Cox) on Orange is the New Black, has worked on everything from True Blood to The Good Wife, and 24. When she’s not on a television set, the New Yorknative is busy running HAIRiette, her personal haircare line.

“I generally like to keep things simple in terms of my fitness and personal life since my professional life is so complex,” says Wright, who noticed that trying to balance her acting career with the initial launch of her product line caused her to put her health on the bottom of her priority list. “I started burning the midnight oil more than usual and it was taking a toll on my mind, body, and soul,” she admits. The star-turned-entrepreneur has since vowed to make self-care a priority.

Here, what Wright refers to as her “holy grails” of keeping healthy:

trek bicycle

“You have to be pretty courageous to ride a bike on the busy streets of NYC. I do it a lot (with a helmet, of course). It can be really peaceful and fun, especially in Central Park on the weekends. I love this bike in particular because it’s super light and crazy comfortable.“

“I travel a lot and I’m not very motivated to work out when it’s cold, rainy, or snowy. The way I exercise consistently is by having my computer (or phone) handy to access YouTube. I can punch in ‘30 minute workout’ and move and groove my body to get loose, warm, and sweaty.”
