Pita with lentil-walnut hummus

Za’atar spice and feta cheese star in this high-protein lunch.

This nutrient-dense dish comes together in minutes but is full of complex flavors. The za’atar-spiced pita chips will seem like an indulgence to kids and get them excited to dig into this Mediterranean-style meal, says Marissa Lippert, RD, a New York City-based nutritionist and owner of Nourish Baby, a food-delivery service for parents and newborns. Pack it for lunch, whether it’s going with you to work or with your kids to school.

4 small whole-wheat pitas, each cut into 6 triangles
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Black pepper
1 teaspoon za’atar spice blend
4 ounces feta cheese, cut into 1 ½-inch cubes
5 cups vegetables, such as cherry tomatoes, zucchini, and carrots, cut for dipping
1 cup mixed olives


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Toss whole-wheat pita with olive oil, salt, pepper, and spice blend. Toast for 10 minutes.
In 4 lunch containers, divide hummus, feta cubes, vegetables, olives, and homemade pita chips.
