Our fit registry: the adventure duo

This New York City-based couple is requesting fitness-focused gifts.

Lately, some engaged couples are pushing beyond the typical china patterns and flatware sets, asking their friends and family to toast their special day with personal training sessions, camping gear, and even healthy cooking gadgets like high-tech blenders. It’s true: fit registries are having a moment. That’s whyFurthermore and the registry experts at Zola have partnered to bring you a series of fitness-focused couples and their unique wish list. Here, meet our first pair.

Seema Shah and Ajay Kulkarni met like lots of couple do these days: online. However, if technology didn't bring them together, life would have probably done so. “When we connected we had over ten friends in common, so it was crazy we hadn’t met already,” says Kulkarni. Fast forward four years and the couple is about to tie the knot. “Ajay and I both love fitness and adventure, and we love to work out together,” says Shah, a New York City-based holistic health and nutritional coach. Their gym routines consist of a mix of weight training and yoga. “We complement each other when it comes to exercise. Ajay teaches me when it comes to weight training, and I keep his mind in shape [with yoga and meditation],” says Shah. Here, the couple shares their fitness-oriented registry, which includes everything from their dream honeymoon to Fitbit wristbands.

"We absolutely love traveling and embarking on off-beat adventures. We're planning something big and fun for the honeymoon, probably to the Philippines and New Zealand. We gave an option to our friends and family to help support us," says Shah.

"When we're on the move, whether hiking in another country or just walking to work, we always stay hydrated. We especially liked this water bottle because the filter is built into the straw, which is environmentally great and satisfies our minimalist urges," says Shah.

fitbit charge 2 heart rate and fitness wristband

"As Ajay likes to say, 'You can't improve what you don't measure.' Having the time on your wrist has also been surprisingly relaxing; it reduces the amount of time we spend on our phones (and saves us from getting lost in social media)," notes Shah.
