4 resolutions of fit pros

Even the fittest bodies have goals for the new year.

You've reflected on the past year, and now a new one is here. Whether your goal is to eat healthier, get more sleep or master a new workout, you're not alone. Even personal trainers have objectives to work towards in 2017. Here, four of Equinox's top talents share their New Year's resolutions.

sleep more, drink less

"I'm training for the 2017 Boston Marathon. During training season, my resolutions are to get more sleep and abstain from alcohol. I plan to get eight hours of sleep by using a sleep tracking app, and setting a nightly alarm an hour before I need to be in bed. I will give up alcohol by keeping myself accountable and reminding myself of my goal to set a new PR."—Cynthia Martinez, Tier 3 trainer, Bryant Park

stay in the moment

"My New Year's resolution is to remain calm in life's storms, and be okay with changes and challenges. I will continue to cultivate and share in celebration and a healthy mind, body and spirit. I resolve to make my fitness message one of inclusivity and acceptance of imperfection. Personally, as I move into the next, most exciting chapter of my life—being a husband and a father—this moment to moment awareness and peaceful approach is paramount."—Justin Rubin, group fitness instructor, Los Angeles

keep a daily journal

"My New Year's resolution is to cultivate clarity in my mind, body and spirit, so that I can make clear choices, feel vibrant and live from a place of truth and authenticity. I'll do this through meditation and by journaling every day. Living from a place of clarity makes me feel grounded, bright and aware. I am so excited for 2017!"—Stephanie Crochet, yoga instructor, West Hollywood

recover as well as i train

"My New Year's resolution for 2017 is to continue inspiring people to get up, dance, and sweat it out! I also want to make sure that I am giving my body the proper amount of rest to recover. It’s just as important as my workout."—Joseph Corella, group fitness instructor, Los Angeles
