The new beach vacations

Start planning your winter vacation at these soon-to-open properties.

This fall’s best new hotel openings have one thing in common: They're all are looking to the beach—and the more remote and untouched, the better. Travelers willing to spend long flights in exchange for long weeks in paradise will be rewarded by gleaming new resorts on private islands and pristine sands from Indonesia to Madagascar.

six senses zil pasyon, seychelles

In each of the 30 private-pool villas at Six Senses Zil Pasyon, there’s a swing in the bathroom. Contemporary architecture touches like this are uncommon in the Seychelles nation of islands. Other features at the property include the restaurant Ocean Kitchen serving only the fresh catch of the day, three beaches and natural pools formed by massive granite boulders, and the signature Six Senses Spa with a focus on ancient holistic treatments. And since the resort is on Félicité, a private island a 20-minute helicopter flight away from the capital of Mahe, everything feels even more exclusive. Opening early November.

bawah island, indonesia

Have you heard of the Anambas islands? Even travelers who’ve been to the nearby Maldives and Raja Ampat aren't that familiar with it...yet. A seaplane makes the 150 nautical mile journey from Singapore to land on pristine blue waters home to untouched coral reefs where neighboring islands are uninhabited. So far, Bawah wants to keep their resort under wraps, and details are being kept secret ahead of its debut later this year. Opening late 2016.
