The Heroes Project

How founder Tim Medvetz's near-deadly accident changed the lives of wounded veterans forever.

On September 10, 2001, Tim Medvetz's motorcycle collided with a truck in the San Fernando Valley. Left partially paralyzed, Medvetz was not expected to walk again. But after a year of despair, he picked up Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air, and was so inspired that he bought a one way ticket to Nepal to train to summit Mt. Everest. After reaching the peak, he decided to dedicate his life to helping injured war veterans do the same. And The Heroes Projectwas born. With a little help from his friends — like Equinox — Medvetz has taken wounded soldiers and marines to six of the world's highest mountain peaks. Up next: Everest. To help them get there, donate at TheHeroesProject.org.
